How to care
Avoid:
1. Contact with sunscreen and oils.
2. Chlorine or other harsh chemicals. Public pools tend to use high amounts of chlorine so limit exposure and wash your suit after contact.
3. Hot tubs. Hot water can damage the delicate fibres.
Washing:
1. Hand wash/rinse with cold water directly after use. We recommend rinsing your suit even if you did not go in the water. This way any sunscreens, sweat, and natural oils from your body can be rinsed off. Rinsing suits after use is key to preventing fading in darker colours and yellowing in lighter colours.
2. We recommend washing your Econyl® clothing on a cold washing machine setting (30 degrees) to save energy and avoid damaging the fabric. Take your environmental protection one step further by using a wash bag or filter to prevent nano plastics from being released into the washing machine water and ending up in the ocean. Alternatively, hand washing Econyl® is the best way to prolong its lifespan.
3. Don't use a strong detergent and make sure the washing speed doesn't exceed 600 revolutions per minute.
Drying:
1. Do not store while wet.
2. Do not wring out or stretch the suit while wet. If you need to squeeze water out, wrap the suit in a towel and gently press.
3. Lay flat to dry in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight.
4. Do not tumble dry as this will damage the fabric.
Ironing:
It's not necessary to iron your clothes made of Econyl®. The material is very flexible and often blended with elastane or spandex to make it even more elastic.
